The Winter Blues
For those of us who live in colder climates, it can be come a real challenge to remain upbeat and not depressed during winter time. There is also a clinical condition called SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder or post holiday depression. it is attributable to the anxiety we feel because the days are so overcast and gloomy. In addition to the fact that we have incurred a lot of new debt over the holidays. The human body by design needs to receive a certain amount of sunlight on a regular basis. It not only warms us up but also supplies us with a daily regiment of ultra violet rays which contain vitamin d. It's purely psychological but we unconsciously find ourselves feeling depressed in the winter do to lack of this natural element. So what are we to do? Here's a list of ten things you can do to remedy the winter time blues.
1. When the weather allows get outside to take in some fresh air especially if the sun is out.
2. Exercise is always a good way to address depression it releases healthy neurotransmitters.
3. When outside take in mother nature and all of her beauty, old jack frost and mother nature are intricate artist and leave beautiful arrangements all over the place, enjoy them.
4. If you don't read develop the habit reading can relieve stress and exercise our minds.
5. Plan special events with your mate that includes activities that you don't normally participate in think outside the box.
6. Of course a dinner date and a movie are always refreshing.
7. Nothing improves the winter blues like that warm get away vacation, head to a warmer climate.
8. Pets are healthy for us at any time of the year they can add years to your life go out and get one especially if you live alone or are single.
9. Our frame of mind is especially important when it comes to depression think happy be happy, ya know don't worry!
10. Finally putting it simply become an optimist, the glass is half full not half empty. Optimism is key to overcoming all kinds of adversity in our daily lives, use to the fullest.
Winter time can be daunting but it does not have to be. Life is a gift, Often times the problems we face are self created just because it is winter and its cold outside does mean it has to be the end of the world. Dont worry be Happy. The Sun will come out tomorrow.
