Spritual Awaking

As we examine the world that we live in, to see or experience suffering is pretty much the norm. It is unfortunate but that is the reality of the world we live in. I have often thought what can we do about our circumstance to make a difference? We can do as the apostle Paul suggested and fight the good fight. So what exactly is the good fight and how do we do it? I believe it has to be done through spiritaul awaking. In the words of William Booth; "While women weep as they do now I will fight, While children go hungry as they do now, I will fight, while men go to prison as they do now, in and out, in and out, I will fight. \While there is a drunkard left, while there is is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one poor lost soul, without the light of God, I'll fight, I'll fight to the very end." I might add that most of these conditions are the direct result of our carnel nature, and it knows no boundaries as it seeks to satisfy its lusts and desires.

  So our purpose and reason for our purpose is perfectly clear. God has given every human being the inate ability to know right from wrong. All human beings have to answer the eternal question of whom will you serve. For Paul said it best in Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms." Darkness in the world is being fought on two levels. One is in a carnel or fleshly area. The other is on a spiritual plane that humans can't see. The bible says;  "that God is light and in him is no darkness, if we say we have fellowship with him yet continue to walk in darkness we are a liar and the truth is not in us." So we must make a conscous decision to seek Gods who is light, through our commitment to him we can then begin to walk spiritually.

  Pauls says that when we become christians, we are given spritual gifts from God to assist us in our daily walk. I Corinthian 12:4-11 says; "'There are different kinds of gifts, but the same spirit. There are different kinds of service but the same lord. There are different kinds of workings but God works all of them in all men." 7But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; 9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,10and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 11But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. " So to fight the good fight we must properly equip ourselves, to have any chance at success it must be done on a spritual plane. If we remain earthly bound we are doomed for failure.

This post was written on the date indicated which is June 30th 2010 there was not a rain cloud in the sky. But for most of the early summer here in Des monies Iowa it has been raining cats and dogs as they like to say. Its has rained so frequently in recent weeks that there is now concern here in Iowa for major flooding in the main tributaries of the Des monies river basin. It is reminiscent of the floods of 1993 and 2008 that happened here in the Midwest. The 1993 flood was considered a 100 year flood. The flood in 2008 was bad, but not as bad as 1993. In today's world there are a lot of signs that indicate we are in the last days. For those individuals who don't know Christ this can be a disturbing conversation. Even for those of us who claim to be saved and know the Lord for ourselves there is something unsettling about this topic as well. The Winter Blues

For those of us who live in colder climates, it can be come a real challenge to remain upbeat and not depressed during winter time. There is also a clinical condition called SAD or Seasonal Affective Disorder or post holiday depression. it is attributable to the anxiety we feel because the days are so overcast and gloomy.
