Resurrection

The resurrection fact or fiction. I believe this is one of the most important decisions you will have to make over the course of your life. Did Jesus rise from the land of the dead? The bible is an historical document, its gives an historical accounting of Gods creation story and the life , death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Now the bible also gives an accounting of others who were resurrected from the dead. Jairus's daughter was raised from the dead. The widows son was raised by Elijah. Jesus commanded that Lazarus come forth and he was resurrected. The difference between their resurrection and Christ's resurrection is you can go and visit their grave sites and if they have not completely decomposed you can find a body. If you go and visit Christ tomb the body will be noticeably absent. That is because he is the only known human to have walked the face of the earth who was resurrected to never see or taste death again. The lord Jesus Christ lived, died and was resurrected and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God interceding on your and my behalf.

The bible says in Matthew 27: 51-53 that when Christ cried out and gave up the his spirit that; " 51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many. So it does not make any difference if it is in the new testament or the old testament the one thing that all of these resurrected bodies had in common is they all returned to the grave. Christ did not. So why is this important you might be asking? It is important because deciding if Jesus Christ is who the bible says he is will make all of the difference between receiving eternal life or eternal death, not for your physical body but for your spiritual body. The bible says that Jesus Christ is the son of God who came to earth not to condemn it but to save it.

According to the apostle Paul our faith rests on the fact that Jesus was resurrected. Asa matter of fact he goes on further to say in 1Corinthians 15: 13-17 that: "13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. 14 And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. 15 Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up—if in fact the dead do not rise. 16 For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen. 17 And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!"

The resurrection is a fact. those of you who might not be quite sure, and who don't believe the biblical account of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, can go the the library and investigate the Josephus account. But for those of us who do believe we have much to rejoice about. For one does not have hope for something that we can see one has hope for things you can not see, according to the apostle Paul. We have been given and look forward to receiving the greatest gift anyone could ever receive eternal life in and through Christ Jesus. But it is all contingent upon the resurrection.
